Building Cape Town: Title deeds delivered to Atlantis residents

Residents of the Saxonsea area in Atlantis are the most recent beneficiaries of title deeds as part of the City’s ongoing title deed handover campaign. The City is working hard to create more homeowners by handing over deeds, providing dignity and enhancing financial stability. At the same time, the City held a roadshow event which gives residents the opportunity to speak to the City directly in their neighbourhood.
‘The City is delivering meaningful change to residents of our communities with every title deed that we hand over. We have been working through our initial database of thousands of deeds which are waiting to be linked to their owners and are handing over as many as possible. These important documents prove property ownership and are essential for financial transactions and estate planning. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you think your title deed might be among those which are available for hand over.
‘We also know that it can be difficult for some of our residents to visit a housing office. That is why we are taking our resources and services directly to residents. We are excited to engage with many more residents and help them find solutions to their housing struggles and to celebrate with even more beneficiaries and their families as we hand over their deeds. By working together in this way, we are Building Cape Town, Together,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Carl Pophaim.
What you need to know
If you or a family member is a beneficiary of a City unit without a title deed, here's what you need to do:
• Please visit our Human Settlements kiosk at the Cape Town Civic Centre.
• Have the following documents ready:
o Owner ID and spouse ID (if applicable).
o Marriage certificate (if applicable).
o In the event of a death, provide a Letter of Authority and Death Certificate.
Visit us at the Cape Town Civic Centre, 2nd Floor Human Settlements Kiosk on Monday to Friday between 09:00 to 12:00.

The title deed email request must include the following information:
Subject: Erf number and Area
Body of the email:
• Name and Surname: (The name in which the title deed is registered)
• ID number
• Address
Contact the Human Settlements Call Centre on 021 444 0333 on Monday to Friday between 07:30 and 16:30
National criteria for applying for a housing subsidy through the City of Cape Town:
• You have to be over the age of 18.
• You cannot own any other property or have previously owned property.
• You must be married or living with a partner, or single with financial dependants (who are able to prove their dependency).
• If you are 60 years of age or older or if you are disabled you may apply as a single person.
• You have to be a South African citizen, or must have a permanent residence permit.
• You must be legally competent to sign a contract.
• You cannot apply if you receive a national government housing subsidy already or if you are married to someone who does.
